Video Tracking Dashboard
Design a solution to allow managers to track which production employees have watched the safety and quality training videos.
Results: $131,000 in savings
Project duration: October 2023 – November 2023
Problem
Managers do not have a way to track which production employees have watched the safety and quality training videos.
Solution
Design a solution that will display video metrics and track viewers via badge scan. Mobile media carts will be made available to Team Leaders to utilize during their daily start up meetings to show videos.
Users
Team Leaders will use the tool to show the assigned videos in their startup meetings. They will also view the performance per department.
Production Employees will use the tool to watch the videos and scan their badge to provide a date and timestamp of completion.

Reflection
After presenting initial wireframes to the team, it was decided there was a need to consider another user, as Business Unit Leaders will also use the tool to view the performance of the departments within their business unit.
It was also decided that this tool would be used to assign the videos to each department and show the videos during start-up meetings.
Other feedback:
- Don’t need top/lowest performing departments as these numbers could be skewed by TV availability schedule, work schedules, etc.
- Team Leaders need the ability to track makeup sessions and manually mark videos as complete per employee.
- Users need to filter data by business unit and department

What I learned
If we had been more thorough in early user research, we could have saved time in the design stage as we had to adjust for an additional user persona.
Coordinating usability testing in the factory environment can be challenging but is imperative to designing a successful product.
This prototype was approved by stakeholders and the MVP was completed in January 2024. The media carts are currently in testing on the factory floor and this application is being piloted in one department in early February.
